Plant breeding, genomics and phytopathology are different ways of asking the same question: what should the next generation do better?

PROTISEM is founded and led by Hendrik Rietman. His work connects genetic diversity and disease biology with field selection and bioinformatics. The soybean programme began in 2010; today the breeding focus includes grain soybean and sweet corn.

Being privately held and subsidy-free gives the company room to pursue its own breeding priorities. The aim is not a larger catalogue of technologies. It is useful crop improvement, sustained over the generations it takes.

Services grow from that same practical base: helping other teams establish breeding programmes, connect their tools and make better use of their material.
